Structural Reinforcement

Structural Strengthening

SAVING TIME AND MONEY

Carbon Fiber or Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymers are used to restore structural integrity in situations where limited access and time are critical. Rather than starting over and repouring areas of damaged concrete, FRP (Fiber-reinforced-polymer) can be applied in multiple layers embedded in Epoxy Resin to provide a high tensile strength, non-corrosive repair that meets all the strength requirements of a Structural Engineer. These repairs are becoming increasingly popular as they are the perfect solution in many applications to repairing and retrofitting damaged, aging, or overloaded concrete, masonry, or timber structures.

THE BENEFITS

The biggest benefit to FRP systems versus traditional repair methods is the mass, shear strength that gets added to the structure without adding extra steel or concrete weight. HRC has used FRP to repair and add strength to columns, slab openings, beams, girders, walls, and new wall openings. Some FRP systems can even be used underwater, and we have used those to repair columns that are subject to tidal fluctuations. FRP will restore and even exceed strength capacities and will not degrade or corrode over time.
